History of Original

The history of Original, the world of monsters.

    Before Unifliction
    Era beginning/end

Before the creation of humans and the tentative peace across the Original, they say every body of water ran red with the blood of monsters. None were safe, but few were less safe than casters, the founders of humanity and those closest to their human creations.   With their incredible magic power, the casters founded Earth and humans, granting themselves security through an abundance of resources for their monster counterparts. But a mistake was made when the spell was cast: they did not realize that by wishing for an abundance of resources and peace among all of monster kind, they would inadvertantly create a new, sentient species that would now bear the burden of the monsters' endless hunger.

    Post Unifliction
    Era beginning/end

The casting of the Unifliction marked the end of the B.U. era, though the first official interspecies conference that would lay the groundwork for the establishment of The City did not take place until over a century later.   The spell's completion also marked the first manifestation of an interdimensional portal that would eventually become commonplace in Original. Magical, technological, and architectural professionals improved upon the spell to summon portals, the design of the portals, and the infusion of portals into developing technology.   The very first portal can still be found exactly where it first manifested. As of the current year, 2150 B.U., it has become a popular tourist location within The City.

    Disaster / Destruction

In late 122 P.U., a group of banshee scouts and angels reported the massacre of a small human village through the portal, on Earth. According to reports, several clusters of shades, duppy, ghouls, and lesser abominations left behind the gruesome remains of hundreds of humans, stirring up panic among neighboring villages.   The scene was disturbing enough that it prompted an unofficial Interspecies Conference and the drafting of a new law, the Don't Eat All The Humans (D.E.A.T.H.) Act.   The law dictates that:

"...hunting outings through the portal to Earth must be registered, and no monster may consume more than their species' daily allotted dietary requirement."
